Football Picks 2009 Minnesota Vikings NFC North Vegas Odds: If the Minnesota Vikings can get someone who can make some plays at quarterback they can be considered Superbowl contenders. Now that adrian-petersonBrett Favre has decided to stay retired the Vikings fate will rest in the hands of either Sage Rosenfels or Tavaris Jackson. Neither one inspires much confidence although Jackson has more upside. Minnesota’s defense is among the best in the NFL with a run defense that does not give an inch. Along with the best run defense in the NFL the Vikings have the best rusher in the NFL in all-world RB Adrian Peterson. Despite these big-time assets Minnesota will come up short in their quest for a Superbowl but will win the NFC North division. The 2010 Superbowl Odds for the 2009 NFC North Minnesota Vikings is at 15-1 Vegas Odds.
Running back Adrian Peterson is the focal point of the Vikings offense but he has had trouble staying on the field. In an effort to increases his durability Peterson added over 10 lbs of muscle which should help. Rookie WR Percy Harvin is a rookie of the year candidate that gives the offense a dynamic element. Harvin along with big-play WR Bernard Berrian should be able to help whoever the QB is make some plays downfield. Tavaris Jackson has more potential with his athleticism but he makes costly turnovers. Rosenfels is a more better passer with more experience but he is physically limited. The O-line is solid but may suffer a drop off with the loss of Pro-Bowl center Matt Birk. The 2009 Minnesota Vikings NFC North Odds to win the division is at 3-2 Vegas Odds.
The main key to the Minnesota Vikings success on defense are their two monsters in the middle in DT’s Kevin Williams and Pat Williams. Pat Williams is the road-grader that eats running backs and Kevin Williams is the disruptive force that consistently gains penetration in the backfield. Alongside those two beasts is DE Jared Allen who is so good that he has the potential to break Michael Strahan’s single season sack record this year. Allen is a high-intensity machine with a bevy of pass-rushing moves. The linebackers are solid with three quality players in E.J Henderson, Chad Greenway and Ben Leber. The secondary is strong with two top-flight players in CB Antoine Winfield and FS Madieu Williams. Special teams has a good pair of legs and an impact return man in rookie Percy Harvin but the coverage units are spotty. The 2009 Minnesota Vikings NFC North Vegas Odds OVER\UNDER is at 9.0 WINS.
